Past and current brand partners include major global brands such as P&G, Audible, and IBM, as well as innovative direct-to-consumer brands like Aura Frames, LMNT, and Boll & Branch. As we scale our reach and impact, we're looking for a dynamic Head of Sales & Partnerships to accelerate our growth through strategic brand partnerships.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Head of Sales & Partnerships is a proactive, sales-focused role designed to significantly grow Mo News’ advertising partnerships, particularly for our Instagram and newsletter channels. You'll leverage the Mo News brand, existing network, and strong industry reputation to identify, pitch, and close new partnerships. You'll also maintain relationships with partners to ensure long-term satisfaction, renewal, and growth.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales & Revenue Growth:
Drive Revenue: Independently research and prospect potential brand partners and proactively pursue new advertising and partnership opportunities.
Close Deals: Pitch and negotiate partnership deals, aiming for high-value, long-term contracts; create and execute insertion orders and contracts
Relationship & Account Management:
Strategic Relationship Management: Act as the primary contact for new and existing partners; proactively schedule mid-campaign check-ins, maintain and nurture existing relationships, and actively pursue opportunities for renewal and expansion. Prepare mid-campaign performance decks and clearly communicate audience insights and campaign value to ensure partner satisfaction.
Partnership Performance & Growth: Regularly monitor partnership performance KPI’s and proactively identify opportunities for performance improvement and scope expansion.
Internal Collaboration: Coordinate with operations and editorial teams to ensure smooth partner onboarding, campaign execution, scheduling, and delivery processes.
Sales Strategy & Operations:
Sales Process Strategy: Help strategically build and refine the overall sales process and structure, recommending tools, resources, and strategies to support sales efficiency and success as the division grows.
Sales Materials Development: Create, update, and maintain compelling, clear, and effective sales assets, including pitch decks, media kits, proposal templates, and any other collateral necessary to successfully pitch and close deals.
Performance Analysis: Regularly analyze partnership performance (supported by operations) to continuously refine outreach strategies and proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS
5-7+ years of proven experience in sales or partnership roles, preferably within digital media, social media, or newsletter-based advertising.
Demonstrated ability to identify, pitch, negotiate, and close deals valued at five figures and above.
Deep understanding of Instagram advertising and newsletter partnership models.
Excellent relationship-building skills, confident in client-facing sales scenarios and in negotiations.
Passion for independent journalism, media innovation, and social platforms.
Marketing experience is a plus
COMPENSATION & EMPLOYMENT DETAILS
Full-time position
Annual Base Salary: $65k
Health insurance options available
Commission structure:
10% commission on partnership revenue for leads provided by Mo News/Mosh
15% commission on partnership revenue for self-generated leads
Commission increases are available after 6 and 12 months, pending performance metrics.
Preference for hybrid with the ability to be in-office (Midtown Manhattan, NYC); potential for fully remote for a perfect fit candidate
